Large-Scale Coastal Storage, Engineered for Span and Corrosion Resistance
Large-Scale Coastal Storage, Engineered for Span and Corrosion Resistance
Nutrinza required a large-scale bulk dry goods storage warehouse at Marsden Point in Northland, a coastal environment known for high corrosion exposure and demanding wind conditions.
The development included a 4,080sqm main warehouse supported by additional side and front structures, delivering extensive storage capacity across a significant footprint. The scale of the building required engineered spans capable of supporting high-volume storage while maintaining structural stability and long-term durability in a marine environment.
Formsteel partnered with Trigg Construction Ltd to engineer and deliver the structural solution using the SuperSpan™ system. The high-strength formed beams enabled efficient span performance across the expansive warehouse footprint while reducing unnecessary material demand and structural complexity.
The result is a high-capacity storage facility engineered for structural scale, environmental resilience, and long-term performance.

Challenges + Solutions
Building Scale and Span
SuperSpan™ beams were engineered to achieve the required spans across a 4,080sqm warehouse footprint.
Coastal Corrosion Exposure
MAXX-grade roofing and cladding systems were specified to withstand harsh marine conditions.
Wind and Environmental Loads
The structural system was designed to perform in exposed coastal wind conditions.
Intergrated Multi-Structure Layout
Adjoining side and front structures were coordinated to operate seamlessly with the primary warehouse.
Custom Finish Requirements
Specified Colorsteel finished achieved design intent while maintain durability and performance.

Our SuperSpan™ structural system enabled expansive, unobstructed spans across a 4,080sqm warehouse footprint, engineered to perform in Marsden Point's demanding coastal environment. The result is a 4,858sqm high-capacity storage facility built for structural scale and lasting resilience.

High-Capacity Storage
A total of 4,858sqm of bulk dry goods storage was delivered.

Greater Open Span Areas
SuperSpan™ engineering created expansive, unobstructed internal storage space.

Durability in Marine Conditions
Our cladding provides long-term corrosion resistance in a coastal environment.

Coordinated Delivery
Structural engineering and construction were aligned in partnership with Trigg Construction Ltd.

Long-Term Structural Performance
SuperSpan® beams were selected to provide strength and resilience suited to large-scale storage.

Industrial Efficiency
The warehouse layout maximised usable internal storage capacity across a large footprint.
“ Formsteel has the potential to change the commercial construction game. It’s a building system that’s lower cost, simpler to construct, faster to build, and lighter. All those things add up and it’s just a better, completely new approach. Of course, we can’t forget that Formsteel is the greenest option out there and that’s something to be seriously considered. ”

“Formsteel as a building solution has undeniably changed the game for large-scale commercial construction projects. Starting with the Formsteel system from the inception of a project ensures cost effective, simple build solutions with a shorter build timeframe. It just makes sense."

“The real benefit of Formsteel is that it allows us as developers to deliver quality buildings that are faster and more cost effective to build. 47% less embodied carbon; this is becoming a bigger and bigger deal. Formsteel source from reputable mills, they are a lot quicker to build with than traditional steel, and cheaper. That's why we are interested in it.
